HOW TO APPLY

The School of Health Professions and Sciences does not require a specific college major for admission to any of our programs. However, most programs require successful completion of a specific list of pre-requisite college courses. For detailed requirements, please refer to the program's webpage.

Many of the required pre-requisite courses are part of the degree requirements for science-related majors, so it is common for accepted students to have majored in Biology, Kinesiology, Chemistry, or Psychology. However, we encourage students from all majors to apply to our programs as long as they have completed the required pre-requisite courses by the first day of class in our programs.

For those interested in pursuing admission to physician assistant (PA) or medical school, our clinical undergraduate programs in Cardiopulmonary Science, Cardiovascular Technology, and Medical Laboratory Science provide a strong foundation.

Application to the School of Health Professions and Sciences is made through the respective program’s Centralized Application Service (CAS). CAS is a full-service, web-based application that allows a student to apply to multiple programs across multiple campuses by submitting a single application.

Application materials, such as official college transcripts, must be sent directly to the respective program’s CAS. Applicants should NOT send any application documents directly to the LSU Health Shreveport.

Yes, applicants can apply to our programs while still in the process of completing their pre-requisite college courses. Similarly, applicants may apply to our graduate-level programs while still in the process of completing their bachelor’s degrees. If accepted, students with in-progress coursework and/or degrees will be granted conditional admission, with the condition being the successful completion of these outstanding items by the first day of class in our programs.

However, it is important to note that all other admission requirements, such as official college transcripts that reflect the minimum grade point average (GPA), must be submitted by the respective application deadline for the program. For specific deadlines for each requirement, please refer to the program's webpage.

To be considered for an admissions interview with your chosen program, applicants must fulfill the minimum admission requirements, such as the minimum grade point average (GPA), by the respective application deadlines. Therefore, it is advisable for applicants to ensure they fulfill these requirements prior to submitting their application.
