THE REHABILITATION CLINIC

The Rehabilitation Faculty Clinic provides physical, occupational, and speech therapy services to children and adults. The clinic has the following resources:

• Board-certified PT specialists in geriatrics, orthopedics, neurology, and wound care
• Women’s health physical therapy services
• Overground bodyweight-supported BioNess Vector gait training system
• BioNess Integrated Therapy System (BITS) – visuomotor training via OT/PT
• BioNess H200 and L300 Plus functional electrical stimulation neuroprostheses for the upper and lower extremities
• Functional electrical stimulation bicycles
• Biodex Dynamometer – muscle testing, functional capacity testing

Call 318-813-2970 to inquire about your particular situation. A referral from a physician or other healthcare provider may be required. Other information that will expedite the process is a copy of your insurance card (front and back).

Once we have this information, our billing office will verify your insurance coverage and notify you if any co-payments, co-insurances, or deductibles that apply. A member of our team will then call you to schedule your initial evaluation appointment.

Please bring the following to your initial evaluation appointment:

• Identification (driver’s license, state-issued ID, etc.)
• Insurance card(s)
• List of current medications
• Comfortable clothes you can exercise in (shorts if you are coming for a lower body diagnosis, gowns and changing rooms are available if needed).
• Braces or other assistive devices related to your diagnosis

This will vary depending on your diagnosis and the type(s) of therapy you are receiving (physical, occupational, or speech). Please ensure that you arrive 15 minutes early to your first appointment to allow time to complete paperwork after you check in at the front desk.

Then, the therapist will spend the first part of the session gathering information about your medical history, how you are functioning at home/work/school, and your diagnosis, injury, or surgery. If you have recently had surgery, your therapist will typically take down your dressing to assess your incisions/portal sites for signs of infection. Your therapist will also ask you what goals you would like to achieve with therapy. The therapist may give you a questionnaire, take measurements, and perform testing to provide you with a therapy diagnosis. They will then discuss goals and the treatment plan with you. They may also give you a written exercise program to perform at home between therapy visits.
