2+2 Healthcare Pathway Programs   

Start at LSUS. Finish at LSU Health Shreveport.

LSU Shreveport (LSUS) and LSU Health Shreveport have partnered to offer seamless 2+2 healthcare career pathway programs designed to help you move efficiently toward a high-demand healthcare profession.

Students spend their first two years at LSUS completing prerequisite coursework, then transfer to LSU Health Shreveport for the final two years of their four-year bachelor’s degree. These pathways are available in three specialized tracks:

• Cardiopulmonary Science (CPS): Prepare for a career as a Respiratory Therapist
• Cardiovascular Technology (CVT): Prepare for a career as an Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist or Cardiac Sonographer
• Medical Laboratory Science (MLS): Prepare for a career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist

How It Works

1. Apply to LSUS: Start your journey by applying to LSUS for the Bachelor of General Studies, Natural Science option at lsus.edu.
2. Complete Your Pre-Professional Foundation: Spend your first two years at LSUS, earning 60–65 credits in pre-professional coursework tailored to your pathway.
3. Specialize at LSU Health Shreveport: Transfer to LSU Health Shreveport, just 10 miles away, to complete the remaining courses for your bachelor’s degree in your chosen specialization.
4. Graduate Ready for Success: Begin a rewarding, high-demand healthcare career with a 100% job placement rate and opportunities nationwide. Alternatively, leverage your bachelor’s degree to pursue graduate studies right here in Shreveport’s medical school or physician assistant program.

Guaranteed Admission to LSU Health Shreveport

Students who meet the following criteria are guaranteed admission to LSU Health Shreveport:

• Cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale)*
• Attendance at all required workshops
• Submission of a reference letter from the designated LSUS college advisor

*If your GPA is between 2.5 and 3.19, you may still be considered for admission on a competitive basis.
