Cory Coehoorn, PhD, Associate Professor of Rehabilitation Science and Family Medicine at LSU Health Shreveport, has been awarded a $210,022 Collaboration in Action Program (CAP) grant to lead a study focused on predicting and preventing heat illness in high school football players.

When Leundra Watkins, MHA, MLS, arrived at LSU Health Shreveport as a medical laboratory science student, she was searching for direction. Today, she coordinates clinical laboratory research to support astronaut health at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Dr. Julie Schwertfeger's work at LSUHS focuses on transcranial electric stimulation (TES), which uses very small electrical currents delivered through a cap worn on the head to gently encourage brain cells to become more responsive after an injury.

KATC Lafayette - LSU Health Shreveport cut the ribbon Monday on what officials are calling a statewide first — a hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy program — at its newest campus location at 902 Coolidge St. in Lafayette.

The hybrid model combines online coursework with hands-on clinical education through partnerships with healthcare providers, allowing students to train close to home while gaining the expertise and experience needed to serve patients statewide.

The Community Foundation of Northwest Louisiana awarded a grant to the School of Health Professions & Sciences Psychology Doctoral Internship Program.
