KATC Lafayette - LSU Health Shreveport cut the ribbon Monday on what officials are calling a statewide first — a hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy program — at its newest campus location at 902 Coolidge St. in Lafayette.

The hybrid model combines online coursework with hands-on clinical education through partnerships with healthcare providers, allowing students to train close to home while gaining the expertise and experience needed to serve patients statewide.

The Community Foundation of Northwest Louisiana awarded a grant to the School of Health Professions & Sciences Psychology Doctoral Internship Program. The LSU Health Sciences Foundation announced that Macey Duncan, a Physician Assistant Studies student at LSU Health Shreveport’s School of Health Professions and Sciences, has been awarded the inaugural Margaret Shehee Cole Endowed Scholarship for First-Generation Students.

Today, Dr. Thomas is a doctoral intern at the LSUHS Children’s Center. Day after day, she supports young clients and families navigating developmental delays, autism and the aftermath of trauma. But the road that led her here has been anything but easy.
